I'm Cassondra Shields
I'm a mom of 4, wife, teacher, and business coach.
I've been a teacher for over 5 years and fell into my own business by accident. You read that right - by accident.
As odd as that is to say, this is the best accident that has ever happened to me!
I started my teaching career in second language learning otherwise known as ESL. I worked primarily with kids in mainland China and teaching English through English immersion classes and working 1:1 online. After about 2 years I started to also work with adults in group classes. I learned so much about culture and people in this work, especially since my adult students were from all over the world - Taiwan, France, China, Canada, Singapore, and Japan just to name a few places.
A lot of things happened in 2020. There was a worldwide pandemic and China changed some of their laws when it came to foreign language teachers, so I lost a lot of my clients as well.
It was also at this time that my 3 year old daughter was supposed to be starting pre-k. However, with the world in shambles and my understanding of distance learning and schools being open, closed, open, closed made me decide for the time being I was going to homeschool.
I started buying curriculum for my 3 year old and fighting tooth and nail to get her to learn. I made games, I made pictures, etc. but she just didn't care. I was trying to balance this fine line of "let's learn" and "but it also has to be fun". The curriculum I bought was fine, but it was definitely NOT fun.
One day, I just threw it out! I was so frustrated with it (and so was my daughter) and got smart with my husband and said, "I might as well just make my own at this point." …..So I did.
I started writing my own reading and English classes and interactive programs for my own kids and within just a few months my 3 year old was READING!
Being a mom, yes, I bragged. Sue me. So, I started teaching other people's kids to read when they saw videos of my daughter. Then I joined some teaching platforms and within the past 2 years have helped hundreds of 3-5 year old kids how to read independently and have the parents' testimonials to prove it.
